REC3 First Aid

Postby DiarmuidM » Thu Mar 29, 2018 8:28 am

Is anyone interested in a REC3, either refreshing it or doing it for the first time? This is a standard first aid course you need to have if you are interested in instructing both professionally and with the club. I'll find out the cost as soon as possible and update the post. Any questions ask away!
Cost should be €75 for the course and certificate.

DATE HAS CHANGED TO 25th MAY DUE TO THE INSTRUCTOR HAVING A BOOKING

I would be interested in a REC 4 if there is a possibility of running one

I can't find an instructor for the REC4 but Mick Treacy who ran the REC3 last year said he's happy to do another one. I'm still looking for a REC4 course so if I can find one I'll let everyone know.

I think that Aran has said this previously in another thread. There isn't much benefit to doing a REC4 imo, bar the bragging rights/knowledge of what to bring for expedition FA kits/maintain expedition level FA kits. The first aidy stuff relevant to paddlers is the exact same as what is covered in a REC3.

Personally I found the REC 4 very useful as we spent a lot more time on how to deal with working in remote locations and also learned how to deal with dislocations

Ahh, must have just been the group I did mine with so. It was a hiking orientated group predominantly to be fair.
