Postby gerard.k » Mon Feb 27, 2017 7:11 pm

This years AGM will be on the 27th March
Time: 19:00
Location: AM 250

If you're thinking of going for a committee position you should do it! Its good fun and a great way to give back to the club. If you've any questions about committee positions just ask one of the committee members or anyone thats been on committee before. Nominations can be sent to Captain@nuigkc.com

Nominations for captain, safety and training officer must be submitted before hand, they aren't accepted on the night.
Those going for captain, safety and training must give a short speech on the night.

If you want to go for a committee position you must nominate yourself. This makes sure that only those interested get elected!

Agenda:

-Minutes from previous general meeting & matters arising
-Officer Reports
-Motions Received
-Elections: Committee 2016/2017
-AOB

If there are any motions you'd like discussed at the AGM please email captain@nuigkc.com

Motions received:
There be an "OFB key".
The committee distribute a key to the OFB that is helping out the club the most; running the most river trips, sessions etc. Can be distributed by & returned to the committee at their discretion and is only in effect for the college semesters (same as normal key holders, back in time for CC). This key is separate to any honorary keys. Rotates on an annual basis. PASSED

"NUIG & GMIT be formally amalgamated as one club"
We paddle together every day so why can't we compete together in varsities?
Allow GMIT students to be considered for previously NUIG only places on varsity teams, like this year. Whether this will also extend to cover committee positions is a Sports Office question, not a club question. NO SECONDED

Motion to allow 3 specfic (mambas) club boats to be used on a list of approved grade 4 rivers on a sign in system and must be accompanied by 2 level 4 skills certs paddlers per boat. Use of boat and river/ river levels before the trip to be approved by captain or safety. To be used twice a semester per person maximum for one year. This would allow approved intermediate (level 3 skills min) paddlers to progress. PASSED(on condition it is ok with Kathy)17-8

For those considering the captains position, from my own experience it is definitely worth doing, it help grow my confidence in public speaking and it looks great on you cv, I have actually used it in job interviews when asked about team work. So definitely consider it. It is also doable during your final year as long as you can part some of your time.
