Description:
Club river trip

Recommendations for future trips:
1.Club needs to invest in 25-30 new helmets as soon as possible, Instructors and committee members present on the day all agreed to this and that fullcut shred ready standard style helmets would be ideal.

2.Instructors who bring their own first aid kits on trips must make sure they are full equipped, as missing items are unacceptable when club first aid kits are available.

3. If people sign up to a trip and cant go for whatever reason its only right they make contact with the trip leader to let them know. This trip was full but no shows take places away from other beginners who mightnt have seen the forum in time.

4.Beginners attitude to the trip was fantastic and more trips should be organised when the interest and desire of our club members is there.

BUMP I amn't certain this has been used to fill out all the trips recently.

Remember, any trip that is outside the canal or upriver should be documented here.

I'll start it off I guess!

Date: 9th Sept
Location: Lower Corrib
Level: 4 Gates
River Leader Ronan 'Bosco' Shaw
Start and Finish time of trip: 10.00 - 19.00
People on the water:David Higgins, Conor McComb, Aisling Corrigon, Aran Kilroy, Ultan, Ger Keelan, Will, Cathal Kelly, Ffrench, Pumpkin , Keeva, Mark Morley ( I could be wrong on this list, I copied from the list of people who signed up and added what I remembered. If I've missed anyone or named anyone who didn't turn up let me know, and I'll edit.
Description: Lower Coaching Day, covered evac points and coaching approaches in the shed, followed by a run of the river where the group was divided, and groups of 3 took turns teaching the rest of the groups 'who were to act as beginners' strokes and techniques typical to G2 rivers. This was repeated after lunch with a second run of the river. Then there was a run of the river dedicated to rescues and boat bashing. Finally Jurys drop got shot a couple of times to round off a good days paddling.
Recommendations for future trips: Dedicate more time to rescues. It was suggested that following the DPI with a day like this was a bit tiring in one weekend, but it was pointed out many were still there until 19.00 re-running Juries.
