The clubhouse is an old factory, now owned by NUIG. Everything starts from here, whether it be begginer sessions on the Canal or fortnight long trips to the Alps.
Club members who are on the safety list can get a key for the Clubhouse in the University security office. Anyone who wish’s to be on the safety list must first pass a basic course which is run several times each year. You’ll have to hand in your college ID in return for the key. Whoever’s ID is in the Centre is ultimately responsible for the key !! Remember to keep it tidy and to put stuff back where it belongs. Security is a big concern so mind the lock and key – it has actually been
stolen in the past ! Also remember to obey the Safety List Rules
Where is it?
The shed is situated in Fisheries field, on the banks of the Upper Corrib.
Leave the college heading for town until you reach the Cathedral. Opposite the cathedral (on the same side as the college) are two lanes which lead down to the Europa Bicycle Hire centre. Go down the lane on the right and keep on going until you see a green metal sliding door on your left saying “NUIG GMIT Kayak Club”. Once you have done this open the door and say hello YOU HAVE FOUND US!!!
