Canoe polo is an extremely aggressive, fun and rewarding game played either in swimming pools of in flat water, such as the Eglinton canal. Five player teams compete in this ball based team sport, where the objective is to score in the opponent’s net. Canoe Polo rules allow for those in possession of the ball to be pushed over. This ensures that the ball is in almost constant motion as players try to find space in good positions in which to receive the ball. Our club is really only getting back into the joys of playing after a considerable absence from the game.
We are the proud owners of 12 plastic “Vengeance” polo boats.
This aggressive game is one discipline in the Intervarsities in which we do not perform as well as we would like, but with a possible Galway Polo League commencing shortly, this may change for the better.
